Bailey "The Fish" Whitsitt

We signed Bailey up for private swim lessons this summer to make sure she had the ability and the confidence to swim. Her first lesson she swam across the pool Freestyle - WOW! The instructor spent the next two lessons teaching her Butterfly and Breast Stroke with a little bit of Backstroke. After that, the instructor has been sick and won't make up the lessons, so we get a refund instead. Not exactly what we had planned, as it is too late to sign up for lessons somewhere else. Lesson learned - if you are going to take private lessons, make sure you go with someone reputable that will make the lessons up if there is illness or bad weather. But at least we know Bailey can swim now!! GO BAILEY!

9 Months Old

Lauren is NINE months old!! At the beginning of the month you weighed 17 lbs, 7 oz. and 28 inches long. And boy has this been an exciting month!

You have SEVEN teeth now - count em, SEVEN! And over half of those came through at the same time. Needless to say you are an exclusively bottle-fed baby now. No more nursing for you! Ha.

Dr. Jon gave you the green light for table food, but you aren't very interested. Besides Cheerios, Gerber Fruit Puffs and peaches, you aren't very interested. Anything new causes you to screw up your face like someone is shoving dirt in your mouth. You then put your hands in your mouth, pull out whatever made it in there and then run it through your hair. Lots of baths this month as a result.

You love having your sister at home this summer. That Bailey really cracks you up. Speaking of which, you have added the fake laugh and fake cry/wimper to your repetoire. You already had the fake cough thing down. Drama queen in the making.

You are cruising around furniture, pulling yourself to a stand - sometimes even without the assistance of anything to hold on to. Soon you'll be walking and running - a very terrifying thought for Mommy.

Other happenings this month: You are gnawing on your crib rail, took a trip to Illinois to visit your Great grandparents - Niedermeier's and the Schlafer's, experienced a swimming pool and LOVED it, had your first french fry (bad Mommy), and I THINK I've heard you say "sissy," "uh-oh" and "what's that"....but then again I could be nuts. Actually very likely Mommy IS nuts.

You are a complete joy to have around, Lauren. I'm so blessed to be your Mommy.
